When is the Food Handler course required?
Food-related professions are required to take a HACCP course and release a HACCP certificate.
The food sector includes a series of activities that follow the entire production chain, from cultivation to administration.
For this reason, farmers, pastry chefs, bartenders, cooks, food industry workers, but not only them. The category also includes seemingly unsuspected categories, such as pharmacists and truck drivers.
These professionals, in one of the phases of their work, come into contact with food and must know the main rules of hygiene and food safety, the HACCP system and have the HACCP certificate that guarantees their training.
At the end of the course is released the HACCP certificate: the proof that the worker has acquired the necessary knowledge about the main hygiene and safety rules, that he knows the rules and the application of HACCP, that he has a basis of microbiology and food preservation and that he knows how to sanitize a facility and equipment.
The HACCP certificate is evidence that you can protect the health of those who come into contact with the food you have processed or handled.
ICOTEA provides three HACCP courses for food handlers, categories A, B and C and a refresher course.
Without the HACCP certificate, the law does not allow you to work in companies in the food sector, to the point that in all cases it is required as a fundamental requirement in hiring.
Therefore, it is also an additional tool to facilitate the job hunt.
